I can’t believe that my last post was August 1st, but I guess I’ve been too busy. Vacations, 2 garage sales, lots of Craigslist sales, having a new front door installed, and all the rest of the things that go along with daily life. Rather than reminiscence, I think I’ll just jump into what’s going on today and move forward.
Autumn has arrived in all its splendid color but without the rain, so I’ve had time to clean up the garden and spruce up the front porch. It’s fun with a new front door to play off of. A couple of seasonal mums from the grocery store to replace worn out summer flowers add just that right touch of color.
While cleaning I found this twig wreath. Although I like its simplicity, I thought it would look even better with a bit of adornment. I scouted around and found three fake apples, then added a bunch of things I’ve been picking up on my daily walks.
With my trusty glue gun I soon had a wreath that suited me better. I just tucked things in groups, adding a bit of bright green lichen for a nice pop of color. One of those projects where it’s hard to tell when you’re done. I finally just quit and hung it outside.
Raleigh was perfectly happy to pose, although the brown dog/brown door combination isn’t much contrast. Happy Autumn, and remember, you can find me on Instagram where I’m much more frequent in sharing my photos.
Next week I’ll be really getting into Autumn cooking, making soups and dishes, using the wonderful soups and broths by Nona Lim. Stay tuned.
Janet, your house looks beautiful. You have inspired me to start decorating for fall!
