Glassybaby

I just recently discovered Glassybaby. One of the few blogs I read, by Ted Kennedy Watson, mentions them fairly often and I decided I’d better check them out. I find them beautiful in every possible way. The photo below shows wingman, wet dog, and pebble.

Of course the Glassybaby candleholders themselves are beautiful, but this small company was born out of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery from cancer. Glassybaby gives 10% of their proceeds to a variety of charities that help people in need. I love buying American Made products, and these are made in Seattle. Read the story here and feel inspired.

Each Glassybaby has a name that relates to its color and a poignant little story that goes along with it. My brown Glassybaby (in the background) is called Wet Dog. How could I resist (see foreground) when 10% goes to fund the efforts of the Humane Society.

Glassybaby has shops in Seattle and San Francisco, so it was a ‘must stop’ visit on our recent trip to the Bay Area. I wasn’t disappointed. So many adjectives come to mind when trying to describe an environment like this: fresh, colorful, inviting, warm, and inspiring to name a few.

When you are on their website you can choose by color or by name, Have fun scrolling through and reading all about each one. I think they’re just great for all kinds of gifts. New baby, wedding, birthday; nearly any kind of celebration can be covered by the gift of a Glassybaby. They arrive beautifully packaged with a little tea lite ready to glow.

My two purchases from the San Francisco store reflect the fun we had while visiting California. Sea Glass and Stormy. The weather was never the least bit stormy but the color reminds me of the churning blue ocean along the Sonoma Coast.

I am excited that I now have a ‘go to’ place to buy gifts that anyone will love. I always appreciate a company that does things for the right reasons. I think I’ve found a new favorite!
