Spring is here, Easter is just around the corner and the flowers are beginning to come back to life. After my visit to the nursery the other day I was inspired to plant a spring basket that would serve as my Easter Centerpiece.

I saw this Easter basket on the Terrain Website and decided to use it as my guide. I love Terrain; they always inspire me. It’s no wonder; they were created by the same folks as Anthropologie. My only question: ”When are you coming to the Northwest?” I can’t wait for my string of pearls plant to trail across the table like theirs. Simply perfect!
Here are some pictures and suggestions for creating your own Easter or Springtime basket:
Find a basket you like. It doesn’t have to be fancy or even new. I lined mine with plastic then trimmed the top from an old hanging basket pot (the heavy pressed cardboard type), to fit inside the basket. Fill in a bit of soil, then place your plants.
I had to have the wonderful peach and yellow Ranunculus and the string of pearls. I dug up a small clump of grape hyacinths from my garden and found the bag of florists moss left over from my terrarium project. I already had the little bunny and three sweet eggs. If you have Easter decorations available it’s fun to fit them in and make it your own.
Use the florists moss to fill in any empty spots. It pulls everything together and the bright green makes all the other colors pop. It really give a professional, finished look to your basket or pot.
Now I’m set for Easter and the whole thing just screams SPRING! That’s what I need around here!
Although you can probably find what you need in your own nursery, home and yard, here is the link to Terrain for inspiration and any other must haves: http://www.shopterrain.com/basket-basics/egg-hunt-basket-square/
