It’s that time of year to give your Autumn Joy Sedums a trim. Actually a chopping. It is recommended that around the 4th of July we chop the stalks in half to keep them from getting leggy and toppling over in the fall. There’s plenty of time for them to shoot up new, shorter, sturdier stalks. I’m a bit late but I’m doing it anyway. I suggest cutting some of them off, especially the outer ones. I can’t bear to cut them all but by cutting some, the new shorter growth and blooms will help support the taller lanky stems. If you haven’t done this before, give it a try. You won’t miss the ones you’ve cut and they really do end up looking better and more healthy.
They also make a wonderful, long lasting arrangement
Or a bouquet for a friend.
Love this plant. Thanks for the great tip!
