Here is a bright sunny wreath for any season. You don’t even need to know how to sew a button. This one hangs near my sewing machine.
I find there's something charming about a wreath, like a nice, tidy ornament. I’ve made many different kinds of wreaths, using pine cones, succulents, pansies, and now buttons.
On this one I used embroidery thread to make it look like the buttons were all sewn on, but I really just made the criss cross stitches and tied them off. I like the contrast of the thread and button. In fact I did stitch a number of these buttons but found it easier to simply glue them.
Use a straw wreath form and wrap it with a colorful ribbon. The ribbon will show so be sure to choose a color that compliments your button collection.Pin a few of your favorite larger buttons in place to get an idea of where you’re going. If you’re a stitcher, this is a good place to tack them in place.
Remember to put buttons on the sides of the wreath but not so they’ll keep the wreath from laying flat against the wall.
Use thick craft glue and add buttons as desired. You can pin them in place temporarily until the glue dries.
It’s a fun excuse to snag up some colorful old buttons at the next garage sale you see.
Janet:
Aren't your ever so cleaver, gluing those
buttons on I would of thought they were sewn
for sure!
Nice idea,
Sheila

Oh, my Mama would have adored one of these, especially since she was hoarding an enormous button collection. It is really very cute. And I have some of her buttons...
