Last month my sister lost her dear dog Buddy. He was a wonderful old boy whose first few years were lived on the end of a chain. My sister came to his rescue and after surgery to literally remove the chain from his neck she gave him a second chance at a new life. He became her devoted companion for nine more years and died a very old, much loved boy.
It’s always difficult to know what to say or do upon the death of a pet and I wanted to do something special for my sister. I know from my own experience there are always reminders of our pets long after they’re gone. There’s always the fur, lodging itself in every corner of your house, but there are other things, like their license, collar and leash. I think a piece of art is a wonderful way to contain these mementos as well as honor their memory.
I asked my ceramist friend Cheryl to make a Buddy Bowl. I wanted his name on it, and she suggested putting the figure of a dog in the bowl. I think she did a beautiful job. Now my sister has a special piece of art to honor her old friend. The bowl is fun, colorful and an everlasting reminder of a good old boy named Buddy.
Beautiful. Thanks again. jm

What a wonderful memory. Since we have a daughter, our cocker spaniel, named "Millie" who is 11 years old and starting to have some age related health issues, it was difficult for me to read your notes about Buddy. But we love the bowl and would really like to have something like this when her time comes. I know this will be a special keepsake for your sister. Thanks so much for sharing all of your wonderful inspirations. SM

Can't help it but this made me teary and smile at the same time. Judy was such a sweetheart to rescue Buddy, and you are such a sweetheart to have a Buddy Bowl made.
