Summer has arrived!! Every year I hold out hope that summer will actually arrive. Not in an end of the world sort of thing, but more of a “when will it ever stop raining” kind of thing. Spring has had several beautiful days, which always give us Oregonians such hope, only to have our hopes quite literally doused with a downpour. Though just as the rainy days make us forget how beautiful the previous days were, a wonderful glorious day of sunshine can quickly erase our memories of recent rains. Summers here are notoriously warm and dry. July, August and even September tend to have very little, if any rainfall and true Oregonians begin to actually complain of the lack of rain. Not at first of course, but we joke that the webs between our toes are drying out. We need our rain. But not now!! This sunshine is a wonderful thing!!
So, get out there and enjoy summer. Take a walk, plant a seed, eat breakfast outside, go camping, take a hike, hang your clothes outdoors, wash the dog with a hose, water the garden, smell a flower, pick a bouquet, cook outdoors, drink something icy cold, put on your shorts, apply sunscreen, bring your sunglasses, eat a freshly picked tomato.
Enjoy your summer everyone!!
