September has arrived whether we’re ready for it or not. I was gone so much in August; thank goodness for automatic sprinklers. No automatic weeders though. Hopefully this year September will grace us with long warm days to finish what August started.
The tomatoes are beginning to ripen and I’m anxious to turn them into sauce and soups.
My harvest today was lettuce, radishes English cucumber, Roma and cherry tomatoes. I’ve got tomatoes drying in the oven and we enjoyed a wonderful salad for dinner.
Things to do this week:
- Dig up potatoes and place in a cool dry place.
- Strawberries need to be clipped back; there are many runners trying to get away.
- Pick Basil and make pesto
- Make tomato sauce
- Weed, weed, weed, weed, weed!!!
WOW I can not express my wonder and jealousy at your beautiful harvest! My tomatoes are still green after such a terrible summer :( Well done, yours look amazing :)

Thanks! We finally (!) got our summer...in September. 90 degree days all of a sudden, but the tomatoes rose to the occasion! I had almost given up, now I am canning and freezing like crazy.
